kali ini akan aku bahas tentang Depot Mie Mapan yang ada di Rungkut, Surabaya, ngga sengaja lihat tempat ini pas kita pergi jemput cewe dede aku minggu lalu. Ternyata Mie Mapan ini sangat well reviewed di Google, kebetulan kita lagi mau makan diluar secara papa aku udah terlalu lapar buat nunggu masak ahahaha.
So, ini depot buka dari jam 07:30-21:30 WIB. Waktu kita kesana kurang lebih jam 19:15 tempatnya udah rame banget ! kita sampai nunggu meja kosong buat kita bertiga dan mereka punya meja di luar dan di dalem. Tempatnya asik, bersih dan ngga panas karena mereka taruh kipas angin gede.
Pelayan akan dateng buat nawarin kita gorengan ke tamu tamu yang baru dapet meja, so buat yang lagi laper berat, mereka ngga akan baper dan marah nungguin mie mereka dimasak (**strategi yang pintar**). Habis mikir lama, kita mutusin buat order 2 song mie ayam jamur dan 1 mie bakwan, semuanya ukuran jumbo karena selisihnya cuman 2000 rupiah.
Nunggu cukup lama, akhirnya makanan kita datang. So sorry, yang ada cuman penampakan mie bakwan secara karena terlalu lapar, aku lupa ambil foto dari Song Mie ayam jamur.

Berdasarkan penilaian kita bertiga, ini depot YES banget. Karena :
+ Pelayanan bagus, sigap dan ramah
+ Tempatnya bersih
+ Menunya lengkap, rasanya enak
+ Harga standard, dengan harga minuman yang terjangkau, jadi pas buat kantung anak muda juga
satu satunya yang kurang dari tempat ini, kalian musti dateng jauh sebelum jam makan karena banyak yang udah habis waktu kita kesana jam 19:15 an itu. Bahkan jam 8:30 an song mie nya juga udah habis
Penting : kalau mau bungkus, ordernya pas order buat makan disana sekalian supaya dah disiapin sama mereka.
My sister and her boyfriend invited me to have lunch with them. It’s not an ordinary lunch，it was a lunch hopping wohoooo !! Something that we have planned to do for ages finally happen
So the idea behind this lunch hopping is that we go to several restaurants to have lunch， we do not have that big stomach and metabolism of a blackhole so we go halves for every plate of food.
It was decided that we will eat 2 Babi Guling rice from 2 different restaurants and Siantar noodle after， all located within the proximity of Jl. Karang Empat.
It was my first time in Karang Empat， and all you can see from both the left and right side of the streets is that everyone selling foods 💖， cheap yummy traditional foods. Legend said that there is an infamous fried duck from this area called Bebek Karang Empat that has existed since the teenage years of my parents.
And so long story short， the first place we went to is called “Warung Babi Guling Ibu Ayu Komang”. This place served Babi Guling in traditional Balinese style， with the crispy pork skin， free pork soup and a little bit of every other things.
The plate was very generous serving， with a mix of red and white rice， the whole dish was beautifully executed. They ran out of the pork satays， so we didn’t taste any， but for IDR 30.000 per plates， this is very well recommended.
Onto the next Babi Guling : Depot Babi Guling Grace. We shared a plate of Nasi Campur Babi. This plate is different to the first one， instead of having a crispy pork skin in traditional Balinese style， Depot Babi Guling Grace has deep fried crispy pork belly， shredded chicken plecing (shredded chicken cooked with sambal)， and Pork satays that is cooked Banjar style.
We agreed that this one has more of Surabayan flavor profile to it while still keeping the integrity of Balinese style Babi Guling. The food is just more salty and spiced like other Surabayan foods， and the deep fried pork belly.. I really liked how crunchy it was and hoe it gave off very interesting texture combination compared to the first Babi Guling we had. Basically to compare it easy， one was like spider man swinging in your mouth， and this one was like hulk playing WWE in your mouth 💖.
The soup was better in the first one， but this one also quite fragrant on its own. If I were to choose between the two， i would go halves with both !!
Now into our third meal， Mie Siantar (Siantar Noodle). I was already dying a little inside， dying from not being able to breathe. As i favored traditional Indonesian foods over anything else， my sister ate the most of the noodle. The place actually is still very traditional， with the front part of the place being used for restaurant and the back part it seems to be the house of the restaurant owner.
When we arrived， we ordered 2 Jumbo size of the noodle because the price isn’t much different between the regular and jumbo size.
My sister excitedly say “they sell badak (rhino) in here !!， you should try!”. My glutton mind was excited at the thought of tasting rhino meat and my confused mind thought “….but this animal is protected….” it turns out to be Medan style of Root Beer….，Why did I expect Rhino`s meat in the first place anyway， too much pork has blocked the information circuit in my brain.
The noodle was large !! Served the description of Jumbo size very well. The noodle itself was fragrant with the aroma of pork oil， better than Noodles in Jalan Tidar personally. Apparently this place is well known and well packed with customers in day to day operations. Served with charsiu， wonton， and quail eggs the taste can be described with the big smile on my sister’s face and her clean empty bowl
So， dear readers. I hope this post helps to give you some ideas of where to eat when pork cravings strikes. Now i need to go for a run up and down the stairs and few days of fasting.
My little brother has an accomplishment to celebrate， he close the deal on his first business transaction (I am so proud of him). So he took us to have dinner outside. My dad wants to eat bak kut teh， so off we went to this venue in Jl. Indragiri
We ordered 3 original Bak Kut Teh and my little brother opted for Dry Bak Kut Teh just to try.
When the Bak Kut Teh arrived I was surprised at how clear the soup is， it’s mainly taste of white pepper and stock. I always eat brown Bak Kut Teh which is boiled with a lot of Chinese herbs， and upon tasting I can say that I prefer the brown one even though this one is not bad either.
This dry Bak Kut Teh was not so bad either a new taste for me however my brother who used to live in Singapore said that it’s not up to par to the standard of Dry Bak Kut Teh in Singapore (He sounds like a Bak Kut Teh connoisseur)
My favorite part of pork ribs is these soft bones… Apparently it’s not common to eat it， but it contains a lot of Collagen. I remember in Junior High school I really loved to eat soft bones because my teeth were itching to bite
We also ordered the salt and pepper pork belly， but I forgot to take a picture of it， my family didn’t really like it because the belly pieces was pretty dry and hard and also there were some burnt pieces..， but we will definitely still be coming back for more Bak Kut Teh
After asking people around in Pacitan about how far Yogyakarta is from there， my dad decided to might as well visits Yogyakarta as it’s only 3 hours away. Upon knowing this my mind starts to wander about all the foods that I will be eating in Yogyakarta and it feels my heart with excitement hahahahah (Gluttony alert !! But Gudeg and Bakpia… I love you since i first knew you， though we are always apart， still my love for you is the same…， is this like reminiscing my puppy love? Not sure why reminiscing Gudeg and Bakpia feels so much better..)
Alas，after 3 hours+ roadtrip we arrived in Yogyakarta around 9.30 Pm. So since many restaurant is near to the closing time (google-wise)， we decided to go to Gudeg Pawon which I had always seen on “Things to eat while in Yogyakarta” and this place is open from late till they don’t have stock anymore to sell.
It was kinda hard to find the place as it isn’t in the main road
This is what sets it apart from other Gudeg shop， we are able to go and are actually served in the pawon (kitchen) of the house.
For those who love spicy， they don’t really have chilli sauce (sambal) to go with it， but they will give you plenty of birds eye chillis. This is how the Gudeg looks like， it’s called Gudeg Basah or wet gudeg， many people from other cities come here to try this delicacy.
After waiting for 45 minutes and spending a mere 5 minutes to eat. I can say that it isn’t as spectacular as ordinary gudeg， but still many people queuing up for this gudeg， it sold out in 3 hours… As we heard people say “habis” (finished) when we are leaving
Our verdict : it was an interesting experience， but would we be coming back again? Personally we rather stick with the ordinary normal gudeg， this gudeg seems to be popular mostly with tourists as all of our uber drivers said they prefer to eat no name gudeg from the street stalls. I had absolutely different expectation when Mr.M showed me this movies to watch together. Mr. M is a fan of action packed movie, so I was expecting an action packed movie with shootings or high chasing scenes. Nevertheless, this movie is breathtakingly beautiful, the story line, the way it was shot and the music are carefully constructed to really set your emotions over the edge. Plenty of times the twists in the movies really makes me tighten my grip in the sofa
I was impressed with this movie, and would absolutely recommend this movie if you feel like watching something deep. Mr.M has long recommended me to watch Cinema Paradiso which is made by the same director and I for sure will
